Haibun Group

Welcome!
The monthly Haibun Group is a support and sharing group of people interested in writing Haibun Poetry. Haibun Poetry is a form developed by Japanese poets. It’s form can be compared to a prose poem combined with a haiku. While it is not intended as a basic class in Haibun writing, it is a place you can share and learn about this unique form of poetry. While no experience is necessary, it is recommended that you learn and practice on your own in order to participate in the haibun sharing. For the raw beginner links and free online resources will be provided to educate yourself. For those experienced with Haibun poetry, this is a safe, supportive place where you can practice, and share. Only positive feedback is permitted.
This group meets the 4th Sunday of the month.
Host: Stephen W. Leslie has been writing Haiku for over twenty-five years. His haikus have been published in journals in the United States, Great Britain, Australia, and Japan. In 2009 Stephen placed second in the International Kusamakura Haiku Competition in Kumamoto Japan. Stephen is a retired mental health counselor and hospice chaplain. He has an M.S. from Loyola College and an M.S. from Johns Hopkins University. He has meditated daily for 49 years.
