Saturday Playwriting Class this Summer

I wanted to let you know about a six-week playwriting class Gina Stevensen will be teaching for Vermont Stage this summer, in case you might be interested in coming along for the ride. The class will be on Saturdays from 10:30am-1:30pm at the Vermont Stage rehearsal space (241 N. Winooski Ave, Burlington). It runs from July 11th through August 22nd (no class on August 1st). 

Here’s a lil blurb about what we’ll get up to:

In this six-week class, we’ll explore practical, dynamic playwriting techniques designed to get you out of your head and bring your ideas onto the page. Each week will begin with generative writing exercises that dig into core elements of playwriting including dialogue, character, plot, theatricality, and voice. We’ll find inspiration in the work of innovative contemporary playwrights and get feedback on our own in-process pages. Whether you’re a theater maker looking for fresh tools or you’re new to writing for the stage, all experience levels are welcome. Come with a draft, a project idea, or a blank page!

The class costs $295 but there is financial aid available. If you’re interested in joining but cost is a barrier, just fill out this financial aid form by July 1st.
